Man, do we live in a noisy world! \u00a0 \u00a0Horns are honking. \u00a0Music is blaring. Tires are screeching. Machines are roaring. Everywhere we wander, there is noise. \u00a0Soft noise. Loud noise.<\/p>\n
Noise typically is “unwanted sound judged to be unpleasant.” \u00a0It is also defined \u00a0as “any sound that is undesired or interferes with one’s hearing of something.” \u00a0I often think about how little quiet time with no noise that most of us really have. \u00a0Quiet time for me has to be planned in a strategic manner, or it just does not happen. \u00a0Lately, I have begun to think about all the noise we are bombarded with from social media and the news.<\/p>\n
That kind of noise is ” irrelevant or meaningless data or output occurring along with desired information.” \u00a0It seems that what once was news is now noise. \u00a0Most people I talk with are operating on \u00a0“information” overload. \u00a0For me, I think it’s more “noise” overload than ” information.” \u00a0Sometimes there seems to be no way out of it. \u00a0We stick headphones in our ears attempting to shut out the noise with more noise. \u00a0We get busier. \u00a0We shop. We eat.<\/p>\n
I say it’s time to turn down the noise. \u00a0We do not have to be consumed by social media or news stations. \u00a0We CAN take back our lives, our time! \u00a0Pick up a book. \u00a0Write in a journal. \u00a0Pray. Meditate . Visit a friend. Write a letter. Hug your children. Paint a picture. Feed some animals. Clean a house. \u00a0Tutor a child. Visit a nursing home. Call your parents. Listen to good music. \u00a0Talk to your spouse. You get the picture.<\/p>\n
